Yes, we also can.

On the 8th of Dec-08 poll results were out of 5 states. Amidst the outcome of results first thing which came across to my mind that perhaps “Yes we can” slogan of Mr. Obama has permeated to Indian voters as well. Because this is the first time ever perhaps after Mr. Nehru and Shastri in the helm, we have voted on the agenda of development. And we couldn’t have timed it better than this. When our country is going through all sorts of adversities simultaneously such as terror, global recession, inflation etc. The last thing we could afford to have is, inept and incompetent governance. Despite the fact that after Nehru, Shashtri and to an extent Mrs. Gandhi we always have had been victim of poor governance time n again, we kept casted our votes for cast, creed and slogans instead of imperative agenda's of democracy such as development.

I don’t have in-depth knowledge of world’s political system. Thus I am not very sure on this however I still think I may not be far away from FACT in stating, that we are the only democracy which had been kept voting and electing the governments merely on the basis of deceiving SLOGAN’s of our political parties time and again. Some said “GAREEBI HATAO” and we all got so engrossed with that, even forgot to ask them how they are going to do that. And gave them 2/3 majority and know what happened after that ". Then somebody walked in straight from his “Rajashi Thath” to show us that he is so concerned for poor’s and gave us another slogan i.e. “RAJA NAHI FAKEER HAI DESH KI TAQDEER HAI”.Henceforth gentleman became Prime Mininster. And we barely shall find anybody who had not suffered the nightmare of “MANDAL”. This divided our society once again, this time with new introduced paradigm by Mr. Singh. We all are collectively paying for this even today to some way our other.

Gradually this slogan’s saga started fading up. Instead of learning from our mistakes we added insult to injury and started casting our votes for sympathy. And the whole scene for me turned out to be, as if we always had an option to go for an arrange marriage with development and growth but we always opted for “Swayamber” and tried to be a Arjun time n again. We kept aiming a fish’s eye seeing her image in water and had been miserably failed as we should have been. Nevertheless finally it seems instead of getting “older” as a democracy we have started “growing up” and has finally successfully got engaged, if not married to development and growth. This engagement is indeed not going to be end up with a marriage of compromization, but to me, this would be marriage of mutual trust, transparency and belief. To make this relationship long lasting, both parties should equally contribute in a great deal. And by re electing Mrs. Dixit in Delhi, Mr. Shivraj in M.P. and Dr. Raman in Chhattisgarh, finally we have found the right way but the big question is can we keep walking on this path till the next general election? And convert his engagement in great gala marriage post which we will be happily married forever with development ,growth and most importantly with good governance

Are we heading in the right direction???

What happened in Mumbai last week is not going to die down soon in our memories. This indeed was most barbaric incident on humanity after 9/11. We all are out raged and angry and we should be, but the big question is with whom? Today we all are blaming Politician along with our ineffecicient system. But the bigger question is who has chosen these inept politicians and created this ineffective system? In my view more than anybody else, we all are the culprits, the common man walking on street. And I believe these incidents will sedulously happening unless we will stop voting on the basis of cast, creed and community. We don’t deserve to have a safe society if we sedulously electing people like Shahubuddin, Shibu Soren and Raja Bhaiya to lead us. These are few names but we all know the fact that majority in Political system today has same deeds.Essentally I believe before blaming anybody we should honestly ask lot of question to ourselves.

With all due respective to sentiments of people who thinks that chanting slogan’s on the road ,burning effigies of politician and lighting candles on India Gate, Gate of India will fix the things or would triggered the change. Somehow I don’t see that happening because what I believe, unless we start a debate with-in ourselves and honestly decide and get determent within, and permeate the pledge that we will not violate the traffic issue. We will not bribe anybody regardless of how much I am going to suffer. We will not cast our votes on the basis of CAST, CREED and Community basis. We will not skip any security check points. That’s where the change going to start with immediate effect.

Some of you might argue how does this going to make a difference to national security? And probably this is the argument we kept come up with throughout. And this is where we had been miserably failed to tap a vicious circle which causes us maximum damage over the year. We always have tendency that “I” alone can’t make a difference. In a nutshell the root cause of this whole problem is we all. We are the one who bribes politician; we are the one who bribes police, govt.clerks to get our job done without suffering and infuse the corruption in system and made this system ineffective and futile over the year.

Everybody today is asking “When are we going to learn?” perhaps this is the most important and most relevant question in today’s scenario. But the problem is we are asking this question to wrong concern, I am not all defending Politician or anybody who is accountable for this. All I am trying to state that unless we hold ourselves accountable ,channelize our energy and convert our anger to bring profound social changes…….. this will keep happening…………………..
